Gallery Artists

First Avenue Contemporary Gallery

The 2,000 square foot gallery space renovated last year with raised ceilings and track lighting is ideal for the showing
of contemporary art.

The gallery exhibits a selection of West Coast Art. California artist JoAnn Belson opened the gallery in June of 2011with large scale works exhibiting her genius for composition. Her commissions with Sony and Dreamworks speak of the high quality of her work.

As the gallery progressed I began incorporating local artists who focus often on the Idaho Landscape capturing for Idaho residents their love of the area. Artists like Jorunn Kristiansen Coe and JanyRae Seda often portray Idaho's Landscape.

Within the contemporary range are the bronze sculpturura; work of Timi DelConte whose ability to capture the gesture of animals cannot be argued. Local sculptor Joe Castle focus is form with organic forms showing just that.

Figurative drawings are another key element of the gallery. The gallery exhibits a host of figurative artists like Californians Chris Hero and David Karp whose capacity to portray the figure by bringing together the studied elements of gesture, line and shade so beautifully portray the human form.

Teaching is a key element here in the gallery. Please visit the news section of our website to see what classes we offer.

Shirley Barer / Owner and Gallery Director

I moved initially to Sun Valley two years ago and
came to the decision shortly thereafter to open
First Avenue Contemporary Gallery.

My passion for the expression of art coupled with my education on the subject have made it possible for me to bring to the gallery what I would hope expresses contemporary art for visitors to enjoy.

I am degreed from University of Washington in Art Education so that I regularly provide classes in figure drawing, landscape, and stil life instruction sharing wih others my knowledge with a focus always on the elements of composition.
